Must….. fight…… sleep……

Back from thanksgiving dinner. Managed to get dishes washed before falling over and passing out. What a great American tradition. Overeating then falling asleep in front of the TV. If only all our holidays were so indulgent. Oh wait… they are.

Christmas - overspending, overeating and falling asleep in front of the TV.

Hallowe’en - gorging on candy and falling asleep in front of the TV.

Easter - same as hallowe’en, but with bunnies instead of ghosts.

Labor Day - Having a big barbeque, overeating, binging on beer, then falling asleep in front of the TV.

And to think I never liked American holidays. What was I thinking?

Dinner was damned good - but I think it was the pecan pie that did me in. The last half of that pie was like a trial by fire. But with pie instead of fire. Hell, if I’m going to undergo an ordeal, gimme pie over fire any day. Anyway, I literally had to force it down, but on Thanksgiving, leaving anything on your plate replaces gluttony as the deadly sin of the day. Gluttony becomes a virtue today. Eat up. Trial by pie.

Am I making sense? Am I too far gone on my turkey tryptophan high? I’ll shut up now.

Any holiday which encourages gluttony has to be good. We haven’t eaten yet. We’re doing Thanksgiving Dinner (or Supper) not lunch. I just finished making the Deviled Eggs, and got them too hot for our daughter to eat. Oh well. There will be plenty of other thins to go around.

    Glad you enjoyed your holiday!

We fell asleep after all our cooking and eating. That tryptophan is serious stuff. Maybe they could bottle it as a sleeping aid. They probably have already.

It was all delicious gluttony! I couldn’t even eat any of the pumpkin pie I made from scratch (yes, including the crust; it’s crazy, but damned delicious!). Good times…

The only bad bit was staying up until 3 AM to clean up the mess we made. And the tight pants the next day. Or two.

Well, Thanksgiving’s over so that means I’m off to New Orleans again and then to Red Stick, LA. Never been to Red Stick. Maybe it’ll be fantastic! Probably not but you never know.

I’ve never been to Red Stick either. Not even through it when evacuating. We went up through Mississippi then into Arkansas. I’ve heard Red Stick is a bit Red Neck - let me know how you like it. Maybe it’ll be fantastic!

But it’ll never beat Sparta Georgia and the Gay Boy disco with Johnny Bill. I suppose I should tell that story.

How could ANYONE beat Sparta, GA? I think I stopped there once for gas… and I never went back. No, not even to refuel. It made that good an impression.

I’ve never been back either - not even when lost in the corn have I been back. One trip to the parking lot of the Gay Boy disco is enough.

[recoiling in horror at the "GA(Y) Boy Disco" in Sparta, Georgia.]

Yeah well, you shoulda been there. It was an unforgettable experience. Then again, maybe R the P has forgotten it.

By the way, everyone, please notice the banner in the corner announcing that I’ve successfully completed nanowrimo!

Thank you in advance for acknowledging my superior writing skills. I may not do it well, but i do it fast.
