Little ole me with my four readers was hacked. I think I’ve gotten rid of the malicious code, now I have to tweak things back the way they were, but for those of you who were wondering why  SP was all scrunched up on one side of the page with all the white space (R the P), thats why.

I’m sort of pissed off because its a ‘hijacking’ sort of hack, but I reckon I’ll recover. I’d noticed over the past couple of weeks I’d been getting an inordinate amount of linkage from some spammy sites, but didn’t think I could do anything about it. Then when I was sifting through code today, I noticed a few nasties that didn’t belong. I’ll be checking my other sites to make sure they’re safe. Its a lotta work, but its gotta be done.

I really hate these bastards. I’m not even a high-traffic site that anyone should want to hijack. Ah well, its all a part of online life I reckon.

Well I just wanted to explain the ’scrunchie’ effect. Things are mostly back to normal now - I just need to fiddle a few things.

    Malicious bastards!

Someone doesn’t take kindly to our playing around with Harry Potter titles.

Or saying we hated going to church.

At this point, I’m pretty furious. I’ve found even more malicious code through the site and I’ve had to do a major clean. Now I’m trying to hack-proof my other sites.

The biggest problem is that hacks like these make me look like I’M doing something unscrupulous. If I didn’t catch it in time, Google could have banned me and all sorts of shit.

    That is insane!

There should be some sort of grievance procedure to stop that. And how horrible that someone can just come in and hack stuff just because they like to make things difficult for other people.

But as you say, that is one of the things about blogs. I’ve seen other blogs of people that I really liked (mostly authors and whatnot) who had to shut down or greatly curtail their sites because of similar things.

Well Extispex was hacked too - really bad. Its going to take me a while to get it fixed. I’m also seeing some problems with Noumenal Net. Its way too frustrating. I don’t know why people do this.

Bas doesn’t use php so its unlikely his site is in danger, but Mojo needs to watch his backend. I’ll check on it tonight when I get the chance. Right now, I’m tired and hungry and way irritated.

Oh NO! This is terrible. What the fuck is wrong these losers?! Get a life, assholes. This is just a nice friendly place to have a chat or a laugh and what do we get? Hacked! I wish all the aggravation these jerk offs inflict on others to come back to them three times over. Or 3,000 times, whichever the universe wants to dump on them. (pissed, and I’m not even doing the cleanup — thanks Che!)

And I see Extispex is still messed up.

And that is just messed up!

  7. Che on February 9, 2007 8:16 pm

Yeah I’ve gone from being pissed off, to frustrated to just plain depressed. I’m probably going to have to build extispex from the ground up again. I’m really not up to it tonight.

The footer is cut off of Noumenal, but I can live with that until I can figure it out. I’d rather be writing than coding, but it can’t be helped.

Mojo, I’m going to have a little peek at your theme files to see if anyone has slipped in any malicious code. I won’t peek at any other files though. I stay out of yours and Bas’ files unless invited, but you know that.

Nothing amiss in your files from what I can see mojo. I’ve got a lot of work ahead this weekend. Meh.

I have a lot of work too this weekend. I’ve been working weekends every weekend for quite a while now. This new job has lost its luster. I am not enjoying it at all at the moment. But what can you do?

I hate that random anonymous maliciousness is so rampant. Here’s to everything getting fine again.

Oh damn.. So that’s why the Shattered Prayer drew a blank..
It was very sluggish at late; i thought it was on my end. Cleaned out my laptop a couple of times.

I hereby wish nothing but bad to those responsible. I wish i could back that up with some HP witchcraft, but i trust my utter contempt will have to do. Shame on thee!!!

Feel free to scrounge around my stuff Che. No secrets. In fact, i’ve had nothing but the best reactions to my newly founded page so far! Found an old friend again. Had great feedback on the Tahitimas EP…

I think i won’t be able to maintain your level of scrutiny with the security bits though. I’ll just stick to the oldskool HTML. I have a bit of javascript automation, but that’s just ran on client side.

Best of luck on the repair job Che. I can’t think of anyone who deserves it less then you.

To the hackers again… &*^% OFF!!!!

I just looked at Extispex (it like extensions for your spectacles!) and I really like the “New Look” for the site. Very nice. Much impressed.

You’ll be happy to know that the hacker has had all of his sites shut down. Yay. He deserves hellfire and damnation, but since we don’t believe in that stuff, I suppose we’ll have to settle for a minor inconvenience to his nefarious practices. I’m sure he’ll be up and running again soon. Lets hope next time he picks on someone more deserving of a hack-attack. Fundies, maybe.

Thank you Richard. I worked most of today getting it up and running again. I thought I’d try a slightly different look. Glad you like.

  13. Mojo on February 11, 2007 10:08 am

Having his sites shut down is the least that should be done to this hacker. We need to change the federal laws so that hackers are considered thieves: They steal your time and for some, your actual money. Take him to court and prosecute! Unless he hacks fundies, in which case it was completely deserved (how’s that for double standards?).

Extispex looks nice again, so maybe there is a silver lining to this dark hacking cloud (gross imagery, sorry).
