The Shattered Prayer

Thats right, Cleto is one year old on February 11. He’s gone from looking like a weird, skinny, chupacabra to being a sleek, beautiful chupacabra. At one year old, he’s no less goofy, moody or mischievous. And he still has enormous feet.

He shares a birthday with Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Anniston, and Pope Gregory XIV. Two popes, Gregory II and Paschal I, died on Feb 11. Not a good day for popes I reckon.

On this day in 660 BC, Japan was founded.

Skipping ahead a few years, in 1790 the Quakers petitioned for the abolition of slavery. It would be another 75 years before anyone paid attention.

In 1858, the BVM makes an appearance at Lourdes, starting a whole new tourism trade in the area.

In 1916, Emma Goldman was arrested for supporting birth control. I had to mention that one, because I’m a big fan of Emma.

In 1964, the Beatles appear live in the US for the first time.

And in 2006, Dick Cheney did what we all wish we could do, and shot a lawyer in the face. Go Dick. On that very same day, a funny little kitten named Cleto was born, and soon came to live with me. My life became a little louder, a little more chaotic, and a little funnier.
