So Bas’ absence has been due to Chimay and good weather. The rest of us grumble, of course, but we’re just jealous because we don’t live in the land of milk’n'honey like he does, a place where the beer flows freely, the tulips are in bloom, and lots of things are legal that are here illegal. Enjoy the good weather, Bas. We’ll still be here when you get back.

I had strawberry shortcake for breakfast. I told myself, “Its fruit, its healthy!”. Never mind those strawberries were sitting on top of a fatty, sugary sponge-cake all covered in whipped cream. Bea loves the whipped cream by the way.

Okay, here’s my recipe for RPBE pie. I haven’t tested it yet, because RPBEs are no longer in season. But I believe RPBCs can be used instead.

Ingredients:

Ten RPBEs (or RPBCs)
1 small can sweetened condensed milk
1 large tub of cool-whip
2 hershey’s miniatures (you can also use special dark)
Half cup finely chopped unsalted peanuts
1/4 cup Peanut butter chips
Peanut butter crumbles (made by mixing 2/3 cup PB with powdered sugar until crumbly)
deep dish Graham cracker crust

Directions:

Put the RPBEs (or RPBCs) into a bowl (unwrap them first, please) and put in the microwave until melty. Make sure you don’t overheat them, as their moisture will evaporate and make them nasty. Add a little hot water if they’ve gotten dry. Whisk them into a creamy texture, and add the condensed milk bit by bit while whisking. When you have a smoothly textured mixture, add 3/4 the tub of cool whip (reserving 1/4 for topping). Whisk until fluffy and smooth. Poor half the mixture into the crust. Top with PB crumbles, then poor the rest of the mixture into the crust. Refrigerate until set, then top with the cool whip, sprinkle with shaved hershey’s miniatures, peanut butter chips, and chopped nuts. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, if you can wait that long. Eat entire pie in one sitting.

Awesome recipe, Che. I particularly liked the final instruction to eat entire pie in one sitting. Have you been watching my pie-eating habits?!? ‘Cuz that’s just what I do!

If we’re being honest here, this pie could result in slight cardiac damage from just the one-serving pie. Frankly it’s caveat emptor, as it were so eat it at your own risk.

As long as I’m on an honesty streak, I will admit to being keenly jealous of Bas’s long holiday in the beautiful Netherlands, bursting with flowers, beer, and, um, other good stuff. Jealous to the core! I blame myself for not moving to the EU when I had a chance. Oh wait, I never did have a chance, but still. I should have moved anyway.

Oh, and BTW, Che, any foodstuff which includes fruit or fruit-like substance when consumed at meal-time is hereby decreed healthy. Ok, so it isn’t actually healthy, but you could do worse than strawberry shortcake: Pop-Tarts for example. So, what do they call those in England? A pop tart would be Britney Spears. They probably don’t have Pop-Tarts in England, but they do have pop tarts like… uh, I don’t know any current ones. I can only think of Samantha Fox from 1986-era tarts.

On a side note, I’ll be very glad when Mercury gets its butt out of retrograde because this has been some crappy time since it went all evil on us! But I digress.

Che, this pie deserves making. Someone give it a test run, even if you have to use RPBCs instead of RPBEs. For gods’ sake, don’t use PCBs, which will give you instant cancer; and don’t use PCDs which will bore you with their trampy dancing and singing. And full circle back to pop tarts.

In case folks can’t tell, I’m getting totally loopy due to too much work on the dissertation… Back to it, I guess (dreaming of RPBE Pie).

Mercury’s not in retrograde until june. Saturn has been since december, but went direct on the 19th. Which I guess is why so much is being released right this moment. I need some time.

Oh, but i’m back to work again long since my Dracuster break week. Making little fiddly things; great fun!

Oh, and i don’t know if there’s a cat version of this one, but i’d suggest making one soon! 348k views… pheww!!

And i’ve just installed a new keyboard on my laptop. The old one was.. well done. I found a cheap replacement in Italy… and it’s italian.. So if you find me blurting out some opera in the near future…
It’s great.. It’s got: òçàèéù§ì on main keys!! And ‘enter’ is ‘Invio’.

Gah.. i want a piece of that pie… Stuff the horny dogs.

Oops, yes, I guess I meant Saturn. I know one of them was just causing massive troubles…

That’s one crazy doll, Bas. And one crazy keyboard too. I can make all those symbols but I have to go to the trouble of using the ASCII equivalents. Not as much fun as using the keyboard directly. Opera will be welcomed if your keyboard insists. It may prove interesting, especially if you’re in the middle of a pie diatribe and you start typing Italian opera! Fun!

I want that pie as well! Darn…

Once, for no reason at all, my Blackberry switched to Spanish, so every time I tried to spell something, it would just throw up the closest thing they could find in Spanish.

It made me think I was going slightly insane. Bas’ Italian Keyboard made me think of my past BlackBerry language revolt.

It is nice how we have Jupiter and then next to him, his father Saturn and then next to him, his father Uranus and then next to him his grandson Neptune.

Wait a minute. What the hell is Neptune doing honing in on the big guys? It doesn’t make sense.

It should be Uranus’ father next. Even though he didn’t have a father.

Do you remember when they discovered rings around Uranus? Many people made a joke that day.

Reminds me of the Wisk commercial: “Ring around the collar? Use Wisk to get rid of those stubborn stains!”. Ugh, so much commercialism.

I guess you could use new Body Soap Wisk: “Pesky rings around Uranus? Get Wisk!”. Obviously, they’ll need a catchy jingle to sell that one, but stupider things have happened.
