So… Lost.

I actually enjoyed last night’s episode. I can’t really say I gave it my undivided attention, but I haven’t done that in a long time. I can say I paid more attention than I have in recent weeks. Months maybe.

When Locke’s father first appeared on the island, I thought it was pretty sucky, but the coincidence of him being the same man who caused Sawyer’s parents’ deaths was a glaring reminder of the mounting number of co-inky-dinks  that bind the passengers together.

But it was also a glaring reminder of the mounting number of totally useless plotline that has wasted our time week after week. For now, I prefer to believe the writers still have a plan. Or maybe, that they now have a plan.

I also liked last night’s flashbacks, which flashed back to just a few days before, and therefore did not tax me too much mentally. There wasn’t a huge demand on my brainpower as I tried in vain to piece together some obscure puzzle. Nope, they just handed it to me, all neatly laid out.

The things that annoyed me last week, the week before, or two years ago still annoy me. Jack. Kate. Charlie. Monty. Jack. I prefered Locke as a total badass, but even with his more sensitive side, he’s still the most interesting character on the show. And Sayid is still hot.

Hints are being dropped that the islanders are all really dead, and in hell or purgatory or some other kind of afterlife. God I hope not. I suspect these hints are a red-herring - surely the writers know that this direction would be horribly, terribly wrong.

I’m pretty sure its been a while since I’ve written this much about Lost. My faith is not yet restored - there’s still so much to hate. But since I have little else to do on Wednesdays, its likely I’ll keep watching, for now, just to see what happens.

Other than this being the week of petty annoyances, I’ve suffered from a lingering melancholy since the upsets of last week.

I don’t feel like SP’s design overhaul is really going anywhere, and my enthusiasm for redesigning my other sites has waned. I find it difficult to maintain incentive for new projects. I began a short-story, and a new article, but everything seems bland and colorless.

And still with the petty annoyances. Little setbacks that pile up and make big setbacks. [’[””””””””””””””””””””[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[””””””””””””””””””””’

Oh, and all those marks were made by Bea, sitting her fat ass on my computer keyboard.

Bea and Puss must have secret conversations about keyboard sittings.

Sorry about the lingering melancholy, but really, it is only to be expected with the upheavals. And this really has been the week of petty annoyances. I just had a sleep study and found that I have sleep apnea “But not in the expected way.”

How can you have unexpected sleep apnea? “Well, he’s not breathing, but I’ve never seen someone not breathe quite like that.”

If the site isn’t redesigned, so what? This design has been good enough for all of us all this time. And my BlackBerry much prefers this layout for some reason.

As to Lost. I too thought the episode was pretty good. I still hate Jack. I don’t think that blonde Other is as “Fanstastic!” as all the press would have us believe. All she does is stare ahead and purse her lips. I can purse my lips. Will people say I’m a fantastic actor?”

And Kate is a dumb ass.

Any Lost person: “Kate, can you keep a secret? No one trusts Jack and we’ve . . . Kate? Where are you going?”

Kate: “Can’t talk now! I’ve got to tell Jack that you don’t trust him!”

Any Lost Person: “Every body! Let’s just kill Kate and Jack. Sayid can sleep with Sawyer from now on. And while we’re at it, kill that blonde woman too. I hate the way she purses her lips all the time.”

But I was compelled by Locke and the Sawyer angle. I thought Locke’s father shouldn’t have been there, and my oh my, he is a one dimensional character, but still, I liked Sawyer killing him practically barehanded.

The producers have said repeatedly they aren’t in any kind of purgatory, so let’s hope that isn’t what’s happening. Hell, even the pope says Limbo’s a dumb idea. Purgatory can’t be far behind.

Yes, I enjoyed the violent bare-handed murder of Locke’s dad. It was gritty and raw and a breath of fresh air after all the really stupid soap-opera-esque stuff thats been going on. If I wanted soap operas, I’d watch a soap opera. Well… more likely I’d watch Soap. The show that brought R the P and me together.

Thats really weird about the unexpected sleep apnea. Only you could have unexpected sleep apnea. So what are they going to do for it?

I figure I’ll get over the melancholy (I know you psychologist types like to take something as natural as melancholy and turn it into a disease so that you can, in cahoots with Big Pharma, drug us into a stupor…. hold on…. drugged into a stupor. Tell me again why I’m against that?…..) and I hope to do a redesign sooner or later. You know me, I’m a gemini - I have to change things frequently. But I suppose I should give it some time.

Today - the whole house has a virus. ‘cept me. IF it ain’t one kind of bug, its another.

Hmmm. People don’t like Lost I see.

But Mojo and I are not Lost. We’re off to spend time with each other. No fusseretating and no Mississippi for one brief shining moment!

  5. Che on May 5, 2007 4:46 pm

Glad you and Mojo get some… ahem… downtime together. Freedom from fussretating and freedom from Mississippi are good things, if only momentary. Enjoy the Mississippiless moments!

    (and the fussretationless moments)

Looks like Lost will have just three more season, each with 16 shows and the seasons will be uninterrupted.

Maybe they are getting back on track after all!

  7. Mojo on May 7, 2007 12:21 pm

Hope Lost recovers from that bad case of Boring. Maybe then I’ll watch it. Maybe.

  8. Che on May 7, 2007 12:31 pm

And maybe the writers even have a plan.

I hope so. They say they do, but I’ve been through J J Abrams plans before.

Rimbaldi and the Mountain and Sydney in the text anyone? Did that even have anything to do with the Red Floating Liquid on Alias?

I think they made that up as they went along.

  10. Mojo on May 7, 2007 2:32 pm

Agreed. JJ needs some real ADD meds or a better diet with omega-3 acids (your position depends on whether or not you’re in league with Big Pharma).

Can’t speak to Lost much, but by the end of Alias (which I liked in the beginning), I was wondering if he was just literally phoning in the script from his convertible en route to the golf course.

  11. Che on May 7, 2007 2:32 pm

I never watched Alias. Can’t stand ole whatserface.

  12. Che on May 7, 2007 2:33 pm

Is it just me or is this post finally picking up some views?

  13. Che on May 7, 2007 2:34 pm

ADD meds can quast the creativity. Maybe he’s already on them.

  14. Che on May 7, 2007 2:36 pm

    Er… quash even.

  15. Richard the Previous on May 7, 2007 3:48 pm

Big Pharma will quast your creativity!

    It will quast your spirit!

It will quast your ability to spell!
