It was okay. I hated all the Jack flashbacks. Of course. Since really I can’t stand Jack. And why oh why the cliche with the beard? A guy’s down on his luck, depressed, addicted, having a bad time. He grows a beard. But as soon as he’s better, well… he shaves.
And speaking of beards. Sawyer manages to grow his hair six inches since landing on the island - what… in two months? But many of the men seem to be still shaving regularly. Others sport five o’clock shadows - how are they managing this, all the time? Do they have one of those 1980s Don Johnson razors?
But I do enjoy watching Sawyer kill people. I don’t know why, he just does it with attitude.
Sayid’s little move, breaking that guy’s neck with his thighs, was just a wee bit unrealistic dontcha think? But he’s Iraqi, and we all know Iraqi guys know this stuff. But hey, who cares about the stereotyping. I mean - whattawaytogo, ay? With your head between Sayid’s thighs? A damn sight better’n a tragic ceiling-fan accident.
Then there was the stuff we all predicted. We all knew John was going to get up out of that mass grave. I just don’t know why he didn’t shoot Jack. I’d have shot Jack, and not because he was holding the phone but because he’s Jack, and people follow him for no good reason.
Charlie died a hero, which was nice for him, but I’m glad he’s dead. I simply cannot look at him without thinking ‘hobbit’. I only wish he’d have taken Monty with him. Then again, if we killed off everyone I hated, there’d be a handful of people left, and probably not much of a plot.
Jack not killing Ben was just stupid. His “I want him to see us rescued, then I’ll kill him”, was the equivilant of the villain who always talks for an hour before killing the hero, giving the hero time to escape. I hate shit like that. BOOOOOOOO writers. Booooooo. See… now, Sawyer woulda just shot Ben, like he shot that guy on the beach. Which I guess is why Sawyer was on the beach, and not at the radio-tower with everyone else.
So, it was some good, some not so good. Some predictable, some not so much. I have no idea if I’ll be back next season. I guess its according to whether I find something better to do on Wednesday nights.
There was a time when Wednesday night was fetish night at my favorite club. I would dress in black lace and corsets and head out for a night of dancing and drugs. Now… now I watch Lost.
Buy me a beer!

I have no idea if I would be back either. I liked the things that you liked.
Especially when Sawyer killed the guy on the beach after he surrendered because “I didn’t believe him.” FINALLY!! They’ve been lying to you all along and suddenly you are going to believe them? Who are you? Jack?
And, by the way, when I get depressed I don’t grow beards.
I liked Hurley being the hero. That’s for all us fat guys out there! Woo hoo!
And so the “flashback” wasn’t the flashback, the main action was. Ooo, you’re so clever. But that is stupid. It gives everyone a jumping off point. “Oh. They were rescued. Ok. What is on some other channel.” I have to say I fastforwarded through all of Jack’s “flashbacks,” until the final one because I figured it was important.
And so they are off the island and it is a mistake. Hey, I agree with you. I guess a lot of people won’t be coming back next year. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
But, to reiterate, loved Sawyer killing the guy on the beach.
Yep, thats exactly how I felt when Sawyer killed the guy on the beach.
“Finally!” Someone shows some sense.
Stuff Lost.. Hurray for fetish Wednesday, black lace and corsets!!
By the way, I was reading another Blog (embarrassed admission this isn’t the only blog I read — but it is the only one i POST to!) and they were talking about how SHOCKED! SURPRISED! STUPEFIED! they were that long bearded Jack was a flashforward. I wasn’t even watching them (because I hate Jack) and I thought they were probably a flashforward, or, if I’m honest I thought, “Oh, so they are trying to be clever by having the island scenes be the flashback. Hm. Not working for me.”
I just think the “now we are a couple of years in the future” thing is weak writing. “Alias” nearly died when they had Sydney wake up suddenly 2 years older than the previous scene to discover Vaughn was suddenly married to a woman who couldn’t act, her father was in jail, and her mother had quit the show.
I guess JJ Abrams just thinks that future shock is GREAT! somehow.
I think it just limits your story-telling possibilities. Any “Future” flash locks you in to a story line that you may think is FANTASTIC at the moment because you were oh-so-clever to think of it. With some hindsight on it, though, you realize it kinda sucks, or limits growth of characters.
Let’s take for instance the “Adult Legion” stories from the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 1960s. (and it wasn’t Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad getting it on in some sexy Legion porn, it was a glimpse into the Legionnaires futures as adults).
It froze the future of the Legion to a mid 1960s version of the future, and crippled storytelling for some of the members for a long time.
So we learned Cosmic Man (no longer Cosmic Boy) smokes a pipe! Cosmic Man is Balding!
Ok. That was an amusing scene, but we knew he married Night Girl at some point. So in the “present” stories, we just kept waiting for them to hook up.
We also knew that whoever Shadow Woman and Chemical King were, they were going to die.
So when they finally joined the Legion in the “present time”, we just kept waiting for them to die. Hell, with Chemical King, the writers just said, “It’s been a few issues since we introduced him. Let’s kill him already.”
And when the cover of the story where he died screamed, “One these Legionnaires will die in the issue!” you thought, “Oh, must be Chemical King.”
And when did Shadow Woman die? Never. They finally “voided” the Adult Legion stories with another story. They were tired of being shackled.
So although stories from the close future can open up possibilities, more often than not, it is simply a story killer.
I love the Legion.
You read another blog?!Thats like blog adultery. Blogultery.
Anyway, I can’t say anything from last nights show ‘SHOCKED’ and ‘AMAZED’ me. And I agree about the flash forwards but really, with a show like Lost I think they can be a little more flexible with the future. Like on Heroes (by the way, I’ve finally got caught up with Heroes, because the Sci-fi channel had a marathon). Anyway, I don’t think Lost has to get locked into a future, but with JJ Abrams, well I think he has these good ideas, then has trouble actualising them.
But I did like Sawyer shooting that guy, and I liked Hurley’s rescue too. I like Hurley most of the time, he’s a good character, but when the writers use him for little more than comic relief, it gets annoying. If they’re going to use him, then use him to his full potential, not just as a stooge.
I have to admit my eyes started to glaze over with the stuff about the Legion. I was thinking… huh? Cuz I’m clueless.
Still I concur with the point you were making.
Season finale of Smallville tonight. I know you guys don’t watch it anymore, but its been getting kinda gritty lately.
Oh and I finally see the big-bush statue. Yeah that is a big bush, but its very nicely coiffed. Like someone took a curling iron to it.
Yes! That is the nicest, curling ironedest bush I’ve ever seen!
Sorry about the Legion. I love them. The first comic book I ever remember getting was the Legion of Super-Heroes. My dad bought it for me because I was sick and in bed. So maybe it represents all that love my father couldn’t display in any other way except buying me a comic book.
Or maybe I just like stories.
Oh I like some comics. I just don’t collect them (or anything these days), but I think its a cool hobby. And I’d still like to write one.
Well, share those ideas and let’s see about getting to write it. I’ll have more time on my hands at my new/old job!
I’m so glad your new/old job is working out! More time is a good thing!
Hey, thats not the season finale, thats a repeat… I guess I misheard. Oh well…
Now Mars is back.
Glaring…
I have a glaring Mars as well!
We also got into Veronica Mars because of the first season, but the second season with the out of nowhere strange ending wasn’t as good as the first and the third season go the show canceled.
Do you notice that Bas and Shelley never talk about sitting around and watching TV shows. And Mojo doesn’t do it much either.
I guess we should talk about something more important. Like, for instance, is this a cutesy play on Spider-Man’s domestic bliss, or just complete misogynistic crap?

I haven’t heard from Mojo at all today? Is he fussretating, or did he not like the picture of my Muse that I sent him?
And as far as the Mary Jane is concerned, I’m not sure, but whatever it is, its over-priced.
Weird - this is the second time the mention of the Mysterious Muse picture has caused a disappearance. Its like a curse. Maybe I should send Flo the pic so she’ll disappear.
Send that picture to Flo now!
Sorry for the break. Dinner came and we started watching “House.” With no background music. Nothing like no incidental music to show you how they try to manipulate your emotions with background music.
Mojo is fussretating. He is being inspired by my changing jobs. His advisor is being a total prick — keeps adding more and more and more to the dissertation, and Mojo is about through with the whole process. He is hating his fussretation as much as everyone who does one eventually hates it.
If that picture has the ability to drive people away with just a mention, then hell, I’ve got a whole list of people to send it to. But I’d maybe better not mention it on my blog, or there goes my traffic.
Hmmm… just can’t get into House. Same story every week. I mean really, how many people in that town come down with mysterious diseases on a regular basis? It reminds me of Murder She Wrote. Wherever that woman went, someone died. Wherever House goes, someone comes down with a mysterious disease.
Angela Lansbury went way downhill after her marvelous Manchurian Candidate role. I mean… Pirates of Penzance? - The Movie. That was a pretty bad idea. And it had Linda Ronstadt in it. And Rex Smith. And that was the last time we saw Rex Smith.
See, I can go off on weird tangents too. Might not be about the Legion, but if its about any sort of pirate, I might just know a little somethin’ about it.
