Yes thats right, the summer solstice is our birthday. And this is the space where all the SPians can leave birthday greetings for me, Prince William, Jane Russell, Koichi Mashimo, Juliette Lewis, Benazir Bhutto, Berk Breathed and no less than two porn stars, Alicia Alighatti and Sindee Coxx.

Bill and I plan to celebrate our birthdays quietly, with beer and dvd porn.

It isn’t your birthday yet. It is still 27 minutes away from it, but I am going to be going in to fill in paper work in the morning with absolutely no access to a computer until late afternoon, so I didn’t want you to think I had forgotten!

I’ll give you this pre-birthday wish now and will get to your actual birthday tomorrow night!

    Happy pre-birthday!

  2. Che on June 21, 2007 8:13 am

Well it isn’t officially my birthday until 3:30 this afternoon. And considering I celebrate my birthday for the entire month of June, there’s plenty of time. Thanks for the pre-birthday wishes!

I’ll post some of my other birthday cards here too. Like this one, from Ferion:

“We at Ferion Forums would like to wish you a happy birthday today!”

Thanks Ferion, even though I haven’t played you in nearly a year, I hold fond memories of galactic domination in my heart.

  3. Che on June 21, 2007 8:19 am

And here’s one from Alison Day Tarot:

    hi Che,

david and I would like to wish you a very happy birthday.

i hope you have (or had) a wonderful day full of love and
    joy.

    alison

Thanks Alison, though I find your understanding of the tarot to be superficial at best, I thank you for the birthday wishes. I will try to have (or had) a day full of love and joy, though I’ll be happy with some beer and a piece of cake.

And I got this birthday greeting from Samuel Okafor:

    From the Desk of:
    Samuel Okafor

With great pleasure I Samuel Okafor, working with a bank here in Nigeria as a Manager. I am writing you in respect of a foreign customer (an Oil consultant/contractor with our National Oil & Liquidified Gas Sector) whom made a US$25M depository for an investment program that has
remained dormant for years now. Hence, I have decided to contact you due to the urgency of this transaction.

On personal investigation, I discovered that the account holder died on December 2002 in the Ukrainian aircraft crash. I made further investigation and discovered that the customer died without making a WILL on the depository.

It may interest you to know that I am only contacting you as a foreigner because this money cannot be approved to a local Bank account here, but can only be approved to a foreigner with an account since the money is in US Dollars. I have decided as a matter of urgency upon this
discovery now seek your permission to have you stand as next of kin to the fund as No one has ever come forward to claim this fund. It may also interest you to know that I have secured from the probate an ORDER OF MADAMUS to locate any of deceased beneficiary. In accordance to Nigerian Law, fund deposited for over a period of Six (6) years without claim will
be reverted to the Government treasury,if nobody applies to claim this fund.

I will like you to provide immediately your full Names and Address, Date of Birth, Occupation, Tel & Fax Numbers so that an Attorney will be able to prepare the necessary documents and affidavit which will put you in place as the next of kin. The Attorney will draft and carry out the notarization of the WILL and also obtain the necessary documents and letter of probate/administration in your favour for the transfer.

At the successful conclusion of this business, your goodself shall be entitled to have 40% that is, USD$10M of the total money while I will have 55% that is USD$13.750M and 5% that is USD$1.250M for communications and other expenses. I am ready to invest a reasonable percentage of mine into any viable business you suggest as a joint partner. Your percentage will also be a source of upliftment. You have absolutely nothing to LOSE in assisting me instead, you have so much to GAIN. Be rest assured that this transaction would be most profitable
    for both of us.

Your response is highly imperative as this is a TWO-man business deal transaction as I shall then provide you with more details and relevant documents that will help you understand the transaction. I need your assistance and co-operation to this reality as I have done my Home-work and fine tune the best way to create you as the beneficiary while I would use my connection and money to secure almost all the paperwork for this transaction which will be done by the Attorney and my position as the Branch Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction with you as the beneficiary to this fund.

I will appreciate your early reply for commencement of business. Contact me for acknowledgement by E-mail and whereby you are not interested, please indicate in your reply so that I can seek for the assistance of someone else.

If this proposal is acceptable by you, I expect that you will not take undue advantage of the trust I Will bestow in you. I await your urgent response.

    Thanks with great regards.

    Mr. Samuel Okafor

    Wow! Ten Million bucks!

Thats gotta be the best birthday present ever! Rest assured I’ll contact you right away, to give you all my bank account information, and wire you whatever amount you need in order to enable you to deposit that ten mil into my account as soon as possible. A birthday wish come true!

  5. Che on June 21, 2007 8:33 am

I got this from the Birthday Daemon on my other forum:

    Happy birthday.

Famous events on this date in history: http://www.historychannel.com/today/

    Today were born: http://www.famousbirthdays.com/today.cgi\n\n

Note: This is an automated message, and I can’t receive response PMs

Thanks Birthday Daemon. I do enjoy messages from daemons, especially the ones who remember my birthday.

  6. Mojo on June 21, 2007 9:21 am

Sweet! I wish I had a birthday demon! Oh, *daemon*; well, that’s close enough.

Happy Birthday, Che! I told Richard I was going to try to post you a birthday post, but I’m not sure I know what I’m doing, AND you beat me to it, so I’ll just join the post group.

Good luck on that 10 million. I know you’d use it well! R the P and I will be sending you an email about your gift later today.

    ¡Feliz Cumpleaños!

  7. Che on June 21, 2007 9:32 am

    Thanks Mojo!

You could make a post on my blog the same way you’d make one on your blog. Oh wait… you haven’t done that yet.

    Hehe.

I think we should all use the ten million to take a trip to Tahiti.

    And stay.

  8. Mojo on June 21, 2007 10:17 am

Oh no - busted on my bloglessness!

Agreed re the ten million bucks. Tahiti it is! Don’t they have any tracts of land they’re willing to part with? I mean, ten mill should get us *something* right?

As for shared birthdays, I shall always think of you when I see this film:

  9. Mojo on June 21, 2007 1:29 pm

Any plans today, Che? Or, are you just kicking back and relaxing?

  10. Che on June 21, 2007 1:37 pm

Just chillin’ mostly. I’ve been doing some automatic drawing. Did a ritual first thing this morning. Other than that, just trying to beat the heat.

  11. Mojo on June 21, 2007 2:21 pm

Sounds good. Nice and relaxing. Not the heat bit. That sounds bad! How hot is it there today?

  12. Che on June 21, 2007 2:23 pm

I have no idea how hot it is. Mom is trying to save money by not using the air conditioner. So its hot. Its hotter inside than outside. Its hot. Hot. Really fuckin’ hot.

  13. Mojo on June 21, 2007 2:28 pm

OMG, that sucks. No A/C in Middle Georgia in June?!? Sorry to hear it. Maybe she will switch it on this afternoon? I can hope for you…

Just checked the internet for your temp which is listed as 93 degrees. UGH. Miserable.

  14. Che on June 21, 2007 2:36 pm

Yep yep… happy birthday to me - I’m melting.

It’d be okay if I could hang around the house naked, but I can’t do that here. And its just so fatiguing.

  15. Mojo on June 21, 2007 2:47 pm

I know… I remember those dog days of summer, especially when I lived in Charleston. It’s just a miserable day in that kind of heat. Sorry to hear you’re stuck in that!

  16. Bas on June 21, 2007 5:02 pm

    Happy Birthday Che!!! And Birthmonth..

Please go easy on Billy B.day boy! Royal ain’t invulnerable!

I hope all is beautiful and filled with mojitos and laughter and money dammit, we all need money!
    Shelley

  18. Shelley on June 21, 2007 5:12 pm

oh and I’m in for Tahiti and stayin’
I’m going to use my imaginary powers and picture one of us winning or getting the windfall and bringing all the others away for good. Running away with others, now that’s a dream I can live with.

  19. Che on June 21, 2007 6:58 pm

Thank you Bas and thank you shelley! I’ll go easy on the Prince - he’s a tender young soul.

I tell you what, we need a pact around here. The first one to hit the lottery totes the rest of us to Tahiti. Because I seriously would, if I struck it rich, bestow all kinds of Tahiti-y, mojito-y goodness on all my beloved SP friends. I love you guys, and ya’ll have kept me laughing through some of the toughest times of my life. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all of you. You’re too special.

  20. Richard the Previous on June 21, 2007 8:05 pm

As noted, I could not get to a computer until the afternoon. LATE in the afternoon as it turns out. I celebrated Che’s birthday (last night) by tossing and turning and getting 1 full hour of sleep! Just the type of thing you need when going in to sign a bunch of documents about fringe benefits.

Things that I found vaguely annoying and/or amusing on Che’s birthday

-The woman with whom I was supposed to meet to sign my Fringe Benefit package, Ms. Muhammad, wasn’t even at work today. I had to meet with “Vincent” instead. The others in HR seemed very dubious of “Vincent’s” abilities to fill in effectively for Ms. Muhammad. Vincent seemed similarly dubious.
-I was told to come in at 9. When I arrived, I was informed that they didn’t start processing Fringe Benefits until 10.30.
-I was given a 2 page flier to read to fill my time until 10.30.
-My salary was wrong on my rehire letter, but no one in HR had the power to correct it.

Things that made me happy on Che’s birthday.

-Finally falling asleep after coming home and talking to my mother and consoling poor Puss (who is still angry about being taken off the China Poison Carb Diet)
-Seeing several people at my old job who told me they were very happy I was coming back. It’s nice to be missed.
-Che was born a certain number of years ago and she has been the best friend any person could ever hope to have in his life.

And for those of you who are in the know, Che, and the original Dr. Who debuted in the same year! Now you know her age.

(And the Queen loves Doctor Who AND she is the grandmother of Che’s birthdaymate, Prince Wee Willie Winky!)

Presently, there is massively loud thunder outside — should I postpone the rest of my birthday post until the storm passes?

Would it be super unfunnily ironic if I were to be killed posting a birthday wish about how much I love Che and how June 21st should be celebrated more than any other day because it bequeathed to us the funniest, loveliest, most talented person ever born?

Okay. Better get off the computer. That’s a bad cloud out there.

  21. Che on June 21, 2007 8:25 pm

So once again, you are getting our rain.

We were supposed to get all that rain that recently flooded Texas, but we did not. I guess it took a left turn and headed toward y’all. And we are left with scorching heat and no air-conditioning.

Thank you thank you for the B-day wishes. I take it by ‘the funniest, loveliest, most talented person ever born’, you mean Prince Willie?

Nah… of course not. You mean Sindee Coxx.

I’m sorry but I had to laugh at them giving you a two page leaflet to read during that hour and a half wait. Who do they think you are - Forrest Gump? Then again, if you were Forrest Gump you wouldn’t have been bored at all. You’d have spent the entire time explaining to some stranger why life is like a box of chocolates.

Why IS life like a box of chocolates. My life isn’t. Or if it is, its like a box of chocolates that someone has already eaten all the cinnamon truffles out of, and left me with the orange creme-filled. (And all of them pinched, no less, so that the perpetrator could see what was inside).

Juuuuust kidding. I figger all in all, I have a purdy good box of choclates. I’m just having one a’them streams of consciousness.

Other than the heat, I’ve been enjoying my day. I had an early morning solstice ritual, and I also got my birthday message from Samuel. I didn’t put it here with the rest of the messages because it was quite long.

At sunset, the cicadas brought me a song. I haven’t heard them at all this year, and they come out tonight on my birthday. I absolutely love cicadas. Its been a quiet day, but kinda spiritual.

And the best thing about my birthday - other than that ten-million dollars from the nice Nigerian guy - is knowing that I’m loved by my friends.

  22. Richard the Previous on June 21, 2007 8:54 pm

Well, it was a fast moving badcloud. It is now gone.

And by “the funniest, loveliest, most talented person ever born”, I of course mean Increase Mather.

Pope Leo IX is a close second.

You share your birthday with a lot of conservative religious nuts. And I include Kip Winger, Meredith Baxter (once Birney), and Michael Gross in that.

Traditionally, I trot out all of the murders, betrayals, Klan civil rights violations that have happened on your birthday (there is a controversial behanding of a slave that happened in Montreal in 1734 that draws particular interest. One, because most people, when they are hanged, do not hear “Off with her hand!” before going to the gallows, and two, because some people say that instead of being behanded, she was instead “booted” by having her legs crushed.)

But this year, many changes happened at Chez Mojo et R le P around your birthday, so I will forgo the usual parade of horrors that history has seen fit to place on your birthday. Positive changes are in the air, so I will talk instead about the fantastic things that have happened in history on your birthday!

Or else I would if people weren’t rotten, rubber necking gawkers who only record the nasty stuff that happens.

But Mojo and I were talking and we’ve decided that for your birthday you will be receiving an All Expense Paid Luxury Vacation to Fabulous New Jersey!

That’s right, Che, you and no guest will be flown roundtrip on the cheapest airline via coach to the wondrous and mysterious land known as Nuevo Jersey! Revel at the state where George Washington crossed rivers! Marvel at the lovely Oil Refineries lining the Jersey Turnpike! Wonder what in the Hell Mojo and I are doing living here!

Your lovely round trip ticket will buy you accommodations in the room that used to be our daughters (all Lindsay Lohan, Linkin Park, and Tupac posters have been thoughtfully removed for the duration of your stay). Your meals will be paid for as long as you bring some spending money!

And what will be the highlight of this trip?

A fabulous day and night in some of the least usable land on Earth! That’s right! The storied Pine Barrens! Biting flies, cranberry bogs, and Jersey Devils can be yours!

No purchase necessary (except all meals).

Oh, okay! We’ll throw in a meal or two!

But seriously, the trip is on us. We can think of no better time that time spent with you, the funniest, most lovely, and most talented person ever born.

We can figure out the time and details later.

I love you Che and Happy Birthday!

  23. Che on June 21, 2007 9:14 pm

Hooray! I’m going to New Jersey!

(another sequence of letters I never thought I’d type in precisely that order). But hey, New Jersey has one of the greatest attractions in the world, which is you and Mojo. And the Jersey Devil too (I wouldn’t want to leave him out).

Thank you! I’m looking forward to it. I always have fun with you (except maybe when stuck in traffic for a billion hours on I-75).

Hey, and I can cook for y’all! Carrot Salad!

I’ll probably have to work a few things out around here, but I definitely want to see y’all.

And I knew, of course, you were talking about Increase Mather. Because he has one of the coolest names in history.

    I love y’all too!

  24. Shelley on June 22, 2007 7:53 pm

I think that Montreal slave was Angelique… I’m just sayin’
congrats on the New Jersey trip and visitin’ Mojo and R the P!
    All fun all the time
    S

  25. Mojo on June 24, 2007 12:28 pm

How goes things today, Che? Hoping that you have not been swept up into a drama whirlwind… as families are prone to do.

We’re busy, but not busy at the same time. It’s weird.

  26. Che on June 24, 2007 12:43 pm

I’m doin’ okay. I was going to give Noumenal News an overhaul yesterday, but woke up with a dreadful headache, so I doped myself up instead. Spent this morning updating the news I didn’t update yesterday, and I may do that overhaul if the music takes me.

I bought myself a couple of new books for my birthday, because I was long, long, LONG overdue for a new book. There’s a lot in life I can live without, but books ain’t one of’em.

We had a minor family drama this weekend. I’ll have to tell you about that one privately, but I have to say, KK handled herself with style and finesse. She’s pretty cool when it comes right down to it.

I figgered you two would be ‘enjoying the silence’ this weekend, esp since R the P has to go back to work at his new-old job tomorrow.

  27. Che on June 24, 2007 1:43 pm

Oh and Shelley, your visualisation worked. I won the lottery yesterday. However, I don’t think the three bucks I won will get any of us to Tahiti. But I’ll go ahead and put it into the Tahiti fund. $3 is a start.

  28. Richard the Previous on June 24, 2007 3:07 pm

Have to sit down a minute. Doing what we used to call around my area of the South “Thirsty Work,” i.e. work that will make you thirsty. In spite of having grown up just one state away, Mojo has different Southern expressions than what we used.

What am I doing? Cleaning the remnants of A the Girl’s room. Yep. True to form, she left everything to the last minute then had to hurry to get it done, leaving us a lot of the work ourselves.

    Oh well.

    Teenagers.

So much of KK’s life reminds me of A the Girl’s. Both of them were/are much better off without the original spawners in their daily lives. Kudos to KK with handling things with such grace!

    I salute KK!

And I’ll salute A the G as well. She had a lot that she had to struggle through in her life, and she graduated high school and is heading off to a college of her choosing.

Way to go, Girls of Resiliency!

  29. Che on June 24, 2007 3:39 pm

Well R the P, she’s a Gemini! Of course she left everything to the last minute!

I do agree, however, than she and KK deserve many salutes for showing such grace, resilience and fortitude in the face of such unbearable bio-spawners.

Try not to do too much thirsty work. Or if you do, then drink plenty of water. No, wait… Iced tea is how we do it down south.

  30. Mojo on June 24, 2007 7:21 pm

Hurrah to iced tea! Love it.

Love a lot of Geminis, but A the G takes it further than any I’ve known. There’s last minute and there’s not doing much of it at all, then panicking at the last minute before actually having to move yourself! Well, whatever. It’s getting done. When you have family, you sometimes have to do stuff. As we say in Jersey, “It is what it is”.

Salutes to A the G and KK for dealing with maniacal nutters in a reasonable fashion. That is courage, for sure. Here here!

Hope it’s not too hot down in Middle GA, Che. Probably is, but I can wish for you nonetheless.

  31. Che on June 24, 2007 7:27 pm

Well, like my grandma used to say, Mojo, “Wish in one hand and shit in the other, and see which fills up faster.”. Thanks for wishin’ but alas, its been in the high nineties around here. And it isn’t even July yet.

Younger Geminis are all like that Mojo, but with time we learn to use deadlines to our advantage. We still don’t like’em too much, but we do learn. And so will she.

  32. Mojo on June 24, 2007 7:39 pm

Now THAT expression was the same where I lived and it was one my paternal grandfather used often. I suppose it’s only to be expected that it would be miserably hot in Middle GA this time of year. We had mid-70s today, but we do have to make up for it later when the snow comes in winter.

Well, good to hear. Glad there is hope for a positive future. Or at least an interesting one.
