speaking of comic books (you were... i dunno, a while back), go try out wowio and then tell me which of the plethora of graphic novels they have on there are worth my time.

free book downloads. how can you go wrong? now, if i could just find time to actually read all this shit sitting on my hard drive...

Oh dear Lord, look what happens at SP when I go to put up groceries. Delta Dawn AND Convoy.

I like pretty much all kinds of music, including some country, but mostly the old pre-Nashville honkey-tonk stuff from the 1940s and 50s.

Don't like rap too much, though some of it I like. And I don't like a lot of pop but thats probably mostly ignorance, because I rarely turn on a radio. I almost never hear any top40. I wouldn't be able to tellya who's at #1 this week.

Most embarassing song I liked as a child, Grandma's Feather Bed, by John Denver. Of course, in my hillbilly family, both my grandmothers had giant feather beds in their back rooms. My grandma on my mother's side, her giant feather bed was often piled high with relatives, a la the song, but no pigs or hound-dogs. Fortunately. My dad's mother, her feather-bed was in a haunted room that NO ONE would ever sleep in (though few people would talk about WHY). That was a scary fucking room, even in broad daylight.

I did once kiss my cousin in that room, however. Hey... we're southern, of course I kissed my cousin.

I loved Convoy!

And that is almost as embarrassing as Delta Dawn.

But not quite.

Cause we gotta little ol' convoy, rockin' through the night
Yeah we gotta little ol' convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on an' join our convoy, ain't nothin' gonna git in our way
We're gonna roll this truckin' convoy, cross the USA
Convoy... Convoy...

whew! 'cause the only word that can describe my musical tastes is "eclectic". i like nearly everything except country and most rap, and i even like a few (a veeeeery few) of those. most of my mix CDs sound like they were compiled by someone's drunk, crazy, aging uncle, his gently schizophrenic flower-child mistress, and their motocross star 15-year-old love child son.

it just makes me happy that old people glare at me as i whip into the post office with shinedown turned up to eleven, but then when i pull out of the lot blaring "dream a little dream", they smile.

it's all warm and fuzzy.

i have been known to belt out some sarah while alone in my car. 'strue.

but if i ever stooped to putting her on a mix cd (which i don't think i would ever do), she'd almost certainly be followed by avenged sevenfold or monster magent or maybe roger miller. *grin*

As a two second insight, I like some lesbian-affiliated music (which even that I have to be in the mood for) but I do not like the overly jangly, bitchy, we-hate-all-men-and-most-women-too stuff. That stuff sucks.

That said, I suppose I should do a few things around the house now...

Che, while you are away with the groceries, we are enjoying Tanya Tucker!

And just to open myself up to ridicule, when I was little boy, my favorite song in the whole world was . . .

Delta Dawn.

Even Mojo prefers the vox de ladies.

And with an N of 2, I can say definitively that the statistics support the notion that gay men like lady singers more than they like men singers.

Maybe many gay men like female voices because the women sing about liking men, and most men don't.

And why we tend to like women with a harder edge or a sexual edge (hello Pussy Cat Dolls!)

Or maybe it's just a coincidence.
