Most of these folks had their priorities right. :) As for #2, The Mortgage Hater, say what you will about finances, but I think he is partially right. I want someone else to do the lawn and all the maintenance and pay the high taxes. I need to focus on important things like reading, the internet, DVDs, and technology. Houses don't help you do any of that. Although, I do like having no one touching my walls... and I suppose if one chooses carefully there are decent houses out there. Just not ours. I agree. The person having conversation number two was extremely angry. He wanted everyone on the subway to know what complete fools they were if they had a house. I'm not sure that he was even talking to anyone in particular. He wanted his message known to all of us.
