haven’t watched it yet, but I definitely will be! Got it Tivo’d.
Love me some Battlestar Galatica.
Mojo and I often say “Through that thing out of the airlock” in honor of the fantastic President.
So who’s the final cylon? C’mon. Lets hear some speculations.
I think many things NEED throwing out of an airlock.
Since my memory is all of about 3 minutes these days (same as my cat), I had better wait to watch Friday’s episode before I speculate. If it’s Rosalyn, I will refuse to watch in protest! That is all I will say on the matter.
I don’t think its Roslin. She’s one of my suspects, but she’s low on the list. She’s had cancer;cylons can’t get Cancer. I think she, Baltar and Starbuck are gonna get thrown at us as red-herrings, but they aren’t the real deal.
I don’t think it is Roslin either.
I think it is Billy. He’s been dead for about a season and half now, but I think that is just a red herring.
Maybe I think that because I miss Billy.
My second choice is Dr. Cottle. For no other reason than rewarding him for being on Soap. Or maybe to punish him for being in Double Trouble.
Oh, who am I kidding? I loved Double Trouble. Who wouldn’t love a tv series starring Katey Segal’s less talented but more beautiful twin younger sisters.
Not that Katey ain’t beautiful.
Loved her as Leela on Futurama.
What were talking about again?
Oh yeah! Cylons.
I don’t think it is Lee. Because he is Adama’s son. You think that Adama would notice his wife giving birth to a grown man.
That means it is unlikely it is Adama because the human/Cylon hybrid would have already been born (i.e. as Lee), so there would be no reason for them to keep trying. Unless Lee isn’t Adama’s son.
So who does that leave?
Roslyn? Too obvious. Hope it isn’t her — unless the “five” are “good” cylons and love humans.
Dee? She could be like Tory Foster. Wait? You’re on the show? And a Cylon? Okay. See if Billy stuck around, he’d'a been a Cylon. Teach him to refuse a 5 year contract.
Cally? Well, we know Cylon “Chief” Tyrol has already hooked up with a fellow Cylon — Boomer. So why not?
Ellen Tigh? She’s dead. But so is Billy. Did we ever see them together? Maybe they are the gender bending Cylon!
So who does that leave?
Gaeta. Supposedly he is the “gay” human. So he’s probably a cylon. Dirty tricking gays!
It won’t be a deader, because Sharon sez they’re all in the fleet. And because if one of the “secret” cylons had been reborn, you’d think the other cylons might’ve noticed.
It could be Adama, because it doesn’t matter if Lee is a hybrid or not. If the final five were “secret” from the rest of the cylons, then the other cylons wouldn’t know there was a hybrid, hence all the excitement about little baby hybrid.
I don’t think its Gaeta. My cylon-archetype spreadsheet (yeah, I can’t balance a checkbook, but I can sure keep up with those cylons) indicates we’re looking for a savior/messiah/sacrificial archetype. That points toward: Starbuck, Roslin, mebbe Adama, and Baltar in his new “reborn” role, healin’ babies and offering to sacrifice himelf to god (almost TOO obvious, so I don’t think its him). Gaeta just doesn’t fit the bill.
It isn’t Starbuck.
Adama and Roslin are still on my list, but it could get pulled out of left field. After Tyrol and Tigh, they’re going to have to throw something good at us.
Adama and Roslin are the only ones left who are “bigger” than what we’ve got. And Leoben did say Adama was a cylon. He mighta been lyin’; might notta been.
BUT, it doesn’t have to be either of them. It could be a total unknown thats been lurking behind the plot for a while. Or it could be something totally bizarre, like the ship (Tigh sed the music was coming from in the ship - what if the ship was a cylon broadcasting the final wakeup call). Anyhoo, thats just left-field thinking, but whatever or whoever it is, it left D’anna in awe. And I don’t think a minor character or the “expendable ensign” is going to be enough to do that.
Whoever it is has to not only leave D’anna in awe, but has to leave us in awe, or the show has failed. And BG just hasn’t let up since the beginning. They aren’t going to fluff out on us.
I am reluctant to say that it is either of the Adamas because the proposed spinoff is supposed to be about two families, the Adamas and the Graysomething or others. The graysomething or others created the cylons and the Adamas were dead set against it.
Or so I’ve heard. But it could be that if the Adamas were around at the beginning of Cylon construction, then Adama would be a logical choice — especially since the first cylon, the cylon “Eve” was a child of the Graysomethings, then the Cylon Adam could be, ahem, Adam-a, the son of the Adama featured in the Caprica spin off.
I, however, would prefer it to be the ship.
Or maybe Bob Dylan. It was his song they heard.
Yep, I know there’s s’posed to be a Caprica series. But that doesn’t automatically rule out Adama as the cylon.
Of course, if we’re going by names. (adam and eve) there’s also the little niggling fact that the Roslin Institute was where Dolly was cloned. Hrm…
The ship would also fit the savior archetype, but I’m not quite sure how the ship would’ve become a cylon. Still, it’d be “awe-inspiring” to be sure. Or hell, mebbe its Starbuck’s ship, since it got blew up and came back new. (eh?)
In the last cylon attack, when the cylon scanned Sam, all the cylons turned and ran. Would the recognition of one cylon be enough to turn all the cylons away? Or was it something bigger?
Oh and its not Dr Cottle cuz we already have a healer archetype in Simon.
Maybe they are going to throw us for a real loop and have the remaining Cylon be one of the Cylons that we already know. D’Anna was suprised to see her own face!
But with dark hair!
Or maybe it was the face of everyone. There are no humans. Just Cylons.
Or maybe it is that hideous dog puppet thing from the original Battlestar Galactica.
It is hard to think of anyone more awe-inspiring than Roslyn or Adama as the last Cylon, but it also seems obvious, and they have certainly veered away from obvious in the past.
Yep, well it could be the case that everyone is a cylon. “This has all happened before, and it will all happen again”. Maybe it has all happened before, the first batch of cylons becoming so human they forget they’re cylons, build machines, which then gradually become more human, forget they’re cylons, build machines, which….
well… mebbe. Yah nevah know, do yah?
If it ends up being a total unknown, then they’re going to have to build up a scenario in this last season that makes the revelation damned good. Not that they couldn’t do it.
Hey, D’anna’s my girl. Not only is she played by Lucy Lawless, lesbian icon, she’s also obviously a Gemini, a knowedge seeker, a communicator, a “curiosity killed the cat” type. Or in her case, curiosity boxed the cat.
Hey.. cat in a box. She’s schrodinger’s cat!
Lucy Lawless also voiced Wonder Woman in Justice League: The New Frontier.
And she did a kick ass job of it too.
is there some reason it can’t be tom zarek?
There are some good reasons it could be zarek.
Not the least of which is that he was on the first show and that would be kind of full circle.
It all has happened before, after all.
might be a good play. hmmm.
that, and there was talk in the first series that Richard Hatch’s character, Apollo, was going to turn out to be a cylon (though the cylons were a whole different animal back in them days). But the show was cancelled.
ooo, i forgot about that. yep. that’s my vote.
That would have been one hell of a make-up job to make Apollo really be a Cylon in the old BG. He pulls off his mask to reveal a huge metal face underneath!
Dontcha remember? The machines in the first series were just “slaves” of the “real” cylons - a reptilian race. So I’m assuming Apollo was gonna be a reptilian cylon spy or summat.
Oh yeah! That’s right. I had forgotten that. I was thinking about that tall cylon that wore a dress and was obviously a guy wearing some huge thing on his shoulders. You know, he had a shiny pointed head.
My only reservation about Zarek is, can they make the revelation big enough. If they can, it’d be a great “full circle”. A completion to the first show as well as to this series.
That is my reservation about him too. It would be neat, but in a kind of, “How ’bout that. Hm. Full Circle.” kind of way.
And that isn’t really a big grab.
Obviously, Richard, you and I are very hard to please. They’re going to have to pull out all the stops to make us happy.
The challenge is on!
But perhaps the challenge is for us to lighten up and enjoy whatever reveal they make.
Unless it is stupid
No… no thats not right. They MUST please us.
You’re right. Temporarily lost my mind!
You really can’t forget that we’re the center of our respective universes, and all must bow to our will.
And Battlestar Galactica better not forget that either!
Well there are so few shows on tv I get excited about. And I’d be disappointed if BG let me down. I don’t think it will though. It hasn’t yet.
My favorite comic book writer, Pete David, is getting in on the handicapping who is a cylon or not.
Cool! And he’s right - the empty space in the last supper picture is supposed to represent the unknown cylon. And there for it can’t be anyone IN the picture (who isn’t already a known cylon.) So it can’t be Roslin, Adama, Lee, Baltar or Starbuck.
However, I’m not going to put all my eggs into the last supper basket. Could be the creators just tossed that picture together to give the fans something to mull over.
Anyhoo… don’t forget to watch tonight.
