This post will be brief, because it need only contain my ire which is to be directed at something which I was only informed of, but did not see directly.

That I didn’t see it myself is a very good thing, because if I had, I would have been furious. That said, this issue is ultimately a trivial one involving only my entertainment. It’s not a failed cure for cancer, nor a misplaced ATM card which resulted in my financial ruin. Nevertheless, I find it irksome. It is this: R the P informed me that the latest issue of TV Guide apparently printed a complete set of spoilers for the latest series of Doctor Who, and didn’t even preface it with a warning of any kind! Those bastards! What kind of irresponsible idiot would blurt out major spoilers in a well known entertainment publication?!

In fact, this particular issue was a sci-fi special edition, which means the editors should be thinking about the fact that sci-fi people tend to actually enjoy the shows they’re discussing. And maybe, just maybe, those fans would like you to keep your damned trap shut about upcoming plot developments! Using your own weapon against you, TV Guide, I give you a huge JEERS for that stupid, annoying oversight. They’ve blasted shows for much less, and we should ignore when they do something to blatantly dumb-assed? I think not.

At least I didn’t read it. Poor R the P did. Mind, he reads so much about the topic, he probably knew all the spoilers already, but that is no excuse for TVG’s complete lack of proper judgment. Given that we subscribe to it, I may just have to unsubscribe if they ever give away spoilers like that again!

Flame off.

I agree, Mojo. It was irresponsible. They labelled the section “Previews” but I didn’t think that would mean “Here are all the people in it, the surprise villain, the Doctor’s hidden Swiss bank Account number, etc.”

I mean, I know it has already shown in Great Britain (the only episode of Doctor Who ever to be number 1 for the week), and as Che said, it is all over the web, but even so, it was a bit much for what was basically one paragraph on the show.

They did choose Captain Jack as the 2nd best looking sci-fi man though. Even if Kevin Sorbo was #4!!!

Even if it is all over the web, and has shown in the UK, I don’t read anything like that on the web and I don’t live in the UK! Silly buggers, they are over at TVG.

But yay for sexy Captain Jack! Boo for Sorbo who isn’t sexy. And, the worst oversight of all: No mention in the women’s sexy list of Linda Carter as Wonder Woman! Absurd! TVG is slipping, big time.

    Kevin Sorbo! You’re kidding right?

We have a Captain Jack’s Crab Shack near here. Though I don’t think its the same captain Jack.

And I totally agree re: the spoilers. Totally irresponsible. Almost as irresponsible as making Kevin Sorbo #4.

*shudders at spoilers and Sorbo as #4 sexy man*

If that is the same Capt Jack at that crab shack, we’re moving.

If it were the same captain jack at the crab shack, I think I’d be at the crab shack instead of sitting here.

Hmmm, well I hope there were no spoilers in this post, but you never know with us… It wouldn’t be the first time I was hoisted by my own petard!

You should enjoy the DVDs when you get them, Bas! It’s just good, quality television.

But don’t read the post titled Midnight and I’m Waiting on the 12.05, Bas! There are spoilers there!

It is amusing that, for all the complaints about spoilers, R the P nonetheless posts a spoiler.

What about all the people who haven’t seen this season, in such far-off places as the Amazon, Papua New Guinea, the Congo, and Netherlands? EH?

  12. Richard the Previous on July 16, 2008 11:35 am

But I didn’t put any spoilers above the jump and I said I was going to talk about the episode! I thought that was ample spoiler warning!

I mean, I did say it was good above the jump, but that’s not much of a spoiler.

Apolgies to Bas and all Papau New Guineans.
