Having read tarot this morning until I just couldn’t read anymore, and then updating the Noumenal News, I had a choice between two fairly brainless activities: eating falafel and playing Sodoku, or creating a new colour scheme for the Shattered Prayer.

Casbah All Natural Falafel Mix, 10 ozI figured working on the colour scheme was at least mildly more productive than the falafel/sodoku combo. After experiementing with a variety of colour combinations, I finally settled upon blue and gold, for no apparent reason. It just seemed kinda nice.

What does everyone think?

(this is also a lame attempt at getting some comments going, because things have been awfully quiet lately. And do I really need to mention mojitos and blenders, just to get a response?)

Sorry for the lack of responses. We were out teaching our daughter to drive yesterday. Scary stuff. But she did fairly well.

The gold has a greenish under tint on my firefox here. And is a little harder to read.

So how’s that? A complaining comment.

Ah no, not driver’s ed. Hope you got valium.

But good to hear she did well.

Well obviously you have some sort of firefox dysfunction because you also saw dandruff when the site was black. Is it just the gold headlines that are hard to read, or all the gold, because the gold links are a slightly darker gold than the headlines. I can make the headlines a bit darker I suppose.

But you know me, i’m a gemini, i have to change shit frequently. it’ll be pink and green tomorrow.

    well maybe not pink.

Pink and green. A throwback to the preppy look of the 80s. Having hit puberty in the 80s, I hold a soft spot for pink and green.

A the Girl, as she called herself on this site, did rather well yesterday, but the first time we took her driving, I think JtO and I both aged about 50 years.

Pink and green together are revolting, 80s be damned. I too see the slight green undertint in the gold, but it is slight. I’m at work, and so unhindered by any cheap monitor problems.

The colors seem a bit more cheerful, almost Caribbean to me. Not sure if that is what you were going for, but that’s the vibe I get. It also reminds me of royalty. Perhaps my queen comment has been taken to heart?

Carribean isn’t exactly what I was going for but I can see it now that you mention it. I’m still experimenting with colour today. What I’d like is something kind of monochrome and I have some ideas for a logo but I can never seem to find the time for it these days.

  6. JtO on September 12, 2006 1:46 pm

I thought that perhaps Caribbean was not your goal. You have to experiment to get the right fit, though.

You can always just tinker with the colors when you have free time. Your schedule seems packed these days, so perhaps color changes can wait until you have the energy to devote to it. It seems the more I have to do, the less energy I have for more ‘artistic’ endeavors…

I must have gemini somewhere in my charts because I too have to change things after a while or I just get bored. I bore easily… Plus, I always like geminis.

Also, I love falafels, but it seems they no longer love me. I used to be able to eat them and enjoy their deliciousness. Now, they attack my person quite zealously. I will leave it at that, but suffice it to say that I miss falafels. [drooling...]

But sodoku gives me a headache.

  8. che on September 12, 2006 3:13 pm

Sodoku gives me a headache too, but you know, its a distraction.

I went ahead with the monochrome look. Didn’t really take long.

I’m sorry to hear the falafels have rebelled against you. When I have them for dinner tonight I will think of you.

  9. che on September 12, 2006 8:33 pm

I didn’t have falafel, I had baked squash.

  10. Richard the Previous on September 12, 2006 9:34 pm

I actually like this new muted color scheme.

I wish I could say more about it, but my brain is fried. Got home late from work and I just need to sleep, and then sleep some more. And then when I’m done, I should sleep.

I also like the angel/cemetery statue contemplating the nature of shattered prayers in the picture on the page as well.

    Nice that.

  12. che on September 12, 2006 9:54 pm

Well I wasn’t very put off by your comment about the greenish tint to the gold, but when J the O said the colour scheme looked caribbean, well, i just had to do something.

Then I went monochrome for a while, but Bas said it was too sombre. Sigh.

So I went for a more sepia tone. I’m glad you like it.

Your brain must be fried, because I didn’t understand that last comment at all.

But hey, check out the biceps on that angel ay?

  13. Richard the Previous on September 12, 2006 9:57 pm

I just meant the angel looks as if it were dreamily thinking “what’s up with these shattered prayers any way?”

I also like the biceps on the angel and the whole “Is it a woman with small tits or a man with really pointy nipples” thing that angel has going on.

As to the Caribbean, it could be a whole new thing for the Shattered Prayer. You could have steel drums playing in the background and zombies walking across the screen.

  14. che on September 12, 2006 10:04 pm

I quite like the pointy nipples, its kind of daring on a supposedly asexual messenger of the Lord.

Those aren’t really shattered prayers, its from a page of Da Vinci’s notes. I used it because he has better handwriting than me.

I suppose I could have used one of Wendy’s old letters. She always dotted her I with little hearts. Of course that might detract from the gravitas of the logo a bit.

I now understand what you’re saying about the contemplativeness of said angel. It may be the case that my brain is fried as well.

  15. che on September 12, 2006 10:06 pm

And with all the curare laden recipes on this site, the zombies are a given.

  16. Richard the Previous on September 12, 2006 10:07 pm

I thought it might be Da Vinci since it was backwards, but still seemed to be the alphabet. Or I thought you flipped a picture to do it backwards.

That is two pro votes for pointy nipples. It could be the next big thing in angels.

Ok, that is official. I HAVE to get to bed after that!

  17. che on September 12, 2006 10:13 pm

Yes I’m off to bed myself. Praying the little chupacabra will let me get some sleep tonight.
