Today is Tami’s birthday. Tami is my friend of a quarter of a century and my life has been deeply enriched by her friendship, so I just want to post a birthday message saying, Happy Birthday and thank you for 25 years of high-strangeness, of laughter, and support and love.
As is the birthday tradition at shattered prayer (a tradition began by Richard the Previous but a good one, so it stays), here’s a list of things that happened this day in history.
Euripedes was born! As was Augustus Ceasar, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mickey Rooney, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, and Harry Connick Jr.
Sigmund Freud died.
Lewis and Clark return from their famous expedition, put their feet up, have a beer.
Neptune is discovered! (and as far as we know, its still a planet).
The rumour begins that Paul McCartney is dead.
And the most famous event to happen on Sept 23rd, the Jetsons premieres!
Well that may have been the most famous, but the best thing to happen is the birth of Tami. If you’re eating cake, think of me.
Mmmm…. cake
Happy Birthday, Tami! I love you!
Buy me a beer!

Happy Birthday, Tami!
I see that Nintendo was also founded on this day — in 1889!! (talk about a company that could adapt with changing times) Whenever I think of you, I will think of Nintendo.
And you share your birthday with Mozilla Firefox, which I am using right now to wish you a happy birthday!
You’ve got yourself attached to a very important day!
Happy Birthday, Tami!
And good luck, Nintendo. You’ve been around a while, so maybe things will pick up. Just ask GM and Ford!
Now, Firefox, that’s a cool birthday. Not as cool as Tami, obviously, but cooler than Nintendo and way cooler than Ford and GM.
Tami seemed most impressed by the fact that Sigmund Freud died on her birthday.
I was most impressed by Augustus Ceasar. Gotta love them roman emperors.
But Firefox… well that beats’em all! (’cept Tami, of course)
And a tidbit, today I’ve been working on some improvements to Noumenal.Net that will hopefully deliver something different and fun for the readers. Stay tuned. If I dont fuck things up, there might just be some new stuff going on here soon.
I cannot wait for the new and interesting things that will be happening on Noumenal!
I have to say that the thing that impressed me about Tami’s birthday was that Peter David, a well respected comic book writer was born on her birthday. But I knew that no one else would care or know who this person was, and since he wrote the Incredible Hulk for 12 years, anyone who did know who he was would also know that I really love mainstream super-hero comic books.
But if ANYONE is interested, they should check out his “Fallen Angel” comic book. I think it is very good. And remember, even Neil Gaiman’s Sandman started as a super-hero book.
