Okay Jude, I'll do that... oh wait. I don't work for firefox.

And anyway, I'm a firm believer in keeping firefox minimalist and customisable. If you want firmer control over cookie permissions, you might try an extension like CookieSafe, which can be found here:

I have not yet had the courage to upgrade. I'll probably go for it after they work out the bugs.

Che makes a good point about the sites. I had trouble with a couple of sites but their login methods were, um, odd. So, FF refused to work with them. One of them used to work, but they got fancy on me, and then the password manager didn't work anymore.

The key point to keep in mind is that no matter what FF does, it's still better than IE. Yes, even IE 7 which has been causing all sorts of trouble for my friends who still insist on using that p.o.s. (or who have no choice due to work restrictions, etc. -- poor souls!).

I'm finally beginning to warm to Firefox 2.0 now. Most of my favourite addons have been updated to work with 2.0, and those that haven't, I've managed to force into action with a few tweaks and hacks. There are a couple of interface issues that I'm still not thrilled about, but overall I enjoy the speed and security of FF 2, so I can finally bring myself to recommend an updgrade, but with the addendum: folks, check the extensions site to make sure your favourite extensions have been upgraded to work with 2.0 before installing 2.0.

Will's problem depends on what specific site he's having trouble with. Is it one website only? Is it all websites? Or is it the Master Password?

Will, I assume you navigated to the Tools |Options | Security |Passwords and checked the box to "Remember Passwords"? Perhaps your troubles run deeper than my simple solution...? If so, this link may help: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password

Good luck... FF is still the best out there, even if it has a few issues in 2.0!

Help me please...
I just installed Firefox 2.0, and all of a sudden, my username/password isn't being inserted in the signon window (it always was before). I tried the usual suspects--I did not mistakenly tell FF not to remember the password for this site; and I also tried the remember password bookmarklet, but all to no avail--FF will not ask me to remember this password. What do I need to do to get around this?
