The Shattered Prayer

It’s been a while since we heard from Bas. I know that, unlike many of us, he actually does stuff. You know, out there… in reality. He’s been busy with his synths, and I know that’s something he enjoys, so I’m happy for him even if it means we don’t get to see him as often.

Today is my sister’s birthday. She is 38. Her son turned 8 two days ago. Our dad turns 68 two days from now. In our family, we like to have a child be born every 29 years and 363 days.

So in honor of my sister’s birthday, I thought I would write about Superboy’s Super-Sister!

I was perusing one of my favorite websites, Newsarama.com, when I came across the headline “Superman’s Hidden History.” Naturally, I wanted to know more.

Well, the season finale of Doctor Who is over, and as much as I would love to talk about the ending of Series Four of Doctor Who, there are people in New Zealand and Australia who have not yet seen it. So for those who haven’t had the chance to see how the Doctor and Donna fare after “Journey’s End,” I’ll try to be spoiler lite, and I will talk about . . .

Hot flashes are about the least funny thing I’ve ever experienced. Why do people make jokes about hot flashes? They’re fucking awful. One minute you’re nice and cool in your air-conditioned house, and the next you’re covered in sweat and can hardly breathe. Without even stepping out-side into the unholy Georgia heat.

Its Jersey Devil Day, and though my body is in Georgia, my heart is in the pine barrens, drinking cranberry and vodka and making a toast to the the fierce protector of the barren pine.
