I go back and forth between the healthy method, and the unhealthy method, of boosting my creativity and brain-power.
The healthy method includes brain-foods like Ginko Biloba, Huperzine A, L-Theanine (read: lots of tea) and vitamins. Add a dollop of exercise and a pinch of meditation and voila! instant creativity.
Except it isn’t working.
Physically […]

You may have notice the microblogging widget where the google ads used to be. I added Plurk to SP because, well, we don’t always have time to post a full blog, and with Plurk, all of you can keep up with every second of my tedious day.
I’m assuming you want to.
But what about […]

I gotta say, Silence in the Library was a kick-ass Dr Who episode. I’ve been waiting for it to air here, ever since it first aired, and was reviewed, in England. It was written by Steven Moffat, who also wrote Blink, and it featured Tubbs Tattsyrup… er… I mean Steve Pemberton. But really… he’ll always […]

We have a lot of writers on SP. And by a lot, I mean four. And I get the feeling some of you may be using Microsoft products to write fiction. Can you see what’s wrong there? How can a soulless monstrosity like Microsoft possibly be conducive to the creative process? It can’t.
In fact, […]

Now that we’re all using our shiny new FF3 browsers -. erm… we ARE all using our shiny new FF3 broswers aren’t we? - I figgered I’d share some of my favorite add-ons. I’ve done this before, but my list has changed. More of my extensions are geared toward work these days, so maybe some […]

As of 7:22am EST, Firefox 3 had over 7 million downloads. The fact that I’m up at 7:22 am to know that is a little unsettling. The fact that I even want to know that is downright disturbing.
I get excited over software. My life has really taken a wrong turn somewhere.
Steff emailed me […]

The Baptists finally came by to help us clean up the damage done in the yard by the tornady. And yes, it was very nice of them. My nephew and niece were also here, mowing the lawn and helping pick up limbs and what-not.
I, on the other hand, was not doing any of those […]

The first law of storms is: If Che is in the vicinity, head straight for her.
It was early Sunday morning, and I was dreaming of an incubus I once met. I was awakened by emergency sirens. Outside, the lightening was like strobe lights, and the rain was pouring. I got up and turned on […]

The Mother’s Day Storm, that is.
Yes, it is true. Che, who managed to flee Katrina right as it was bearing down on New Orleans, did not manage to miss the rash of tornadoes that happened this past weekend. The F2 Tornado that hit Maconga tore right down the street on […]

Today on BBC science news was the headline Great Tits Cope Well with Global Warming.. Its good to know I’m set for the coming apocalypse. And if any of you need shelter from droughts, hurricanes and assorted omens of Armageddon, you can hide beneath my breasts. We’ll discuss rental rates.

Yesterday I walked into KK’s room. She was watching some reality show on TV, and a man walks in on his girlfriend who is kissing another woman. I looked at KK questioningly, and she just shrugged and said, “She’s biological”.
As long as we’re all clear on that.

So, it being Sunday an’all, and not a very good day for TV, I found myself watching the History Channel. I can see why Richard enjoys history so much. I watched a show about Stalin’s plan to create an army of monkey-men.
What I don’t understand is why Richard would rather read about pilgrims than […]

Yup, today is Steffimas. The anniversary of the nativity of Stefficus. Happy birfday steff!

These are snippets from conversations I overheard on the subway.
All of them involve numbers in some way.

Conversation Snippet 1
“Can you believe I’m getting six years just because I robbed a bank? Ain’t that some shit?”
Conversation Snippet 2
“Mortgages are for shit, man! It’s like paying rent! Nobody knows that! They all stupid! […]

Che correctly pointed out that I have been reading about the Bubonic Plague. Just a little light reading about a happy topic to whittle the hours away on the train as I go to and from work. But the thing is, I’ve moved on from the plague and am now some 300 years […]
